Looks like somebody had some "fun".
Pedro
I'd hate to be paying his ebay fees for this sale :)
What exactly am I missing here? Or is there a full moon or something?
I like the full moon theory Fulvio! The note is nothing special so it looks like somebody just decided to play around a little. Presumably the sale would be cancelled to avoid Ebay fees.
Pedro
he said it is a 1992 note but the number has AA 05
SO IS IT 1992 OR 2005 note ??
,,kel ,,
AA05 = 2005 Note :ok:
It is a 1992, but even in UNC I think it would worth be less than $100 so I think it's just someone testing out their new 'dummy' bid user ids.
1992 First prefix AA00
1992 Last prefix AA19
The 2005 Notes start at BA 05.

That's why I love Coins.
They have the date on them :yahoo:
so what are you guys saying , some one has altered the numbers
that what I meant when I said , I saw it as a 1992 note but the number reads 2005 ,, PMD I think for sure ,
and I don't think ebay will get any fees for this one . because it really wont change hands .

Nobody has changed the numbers. Before 1996 the first prefix for $5 notes was AA. After that it has always been BA. As this is AA it has to be a note earlier than 1996. As Unicorn pointed out its a 1992 with a perfectly normal number.

Actually it was before 1993 that the first prefix for $5 notes was AA.
The 1992 $5 note did not have the year in its serial number. It started at AA00 and ended at AB19. It was only in 1993 that all polymer notes started having the year in their serial numbers.
They never intended to include the year. Then once they realised it would be a good idea, they were stymied by the fact that $5's had already been issued with prefixes that would conflict if they used AA prefixes. So the simple fix was to create an exception, and start from BA instead of AA, for the $5's only.
Pity we won't be around to see what they do to fix the coming centennial conflict at the end of this century. Humans are sooooo great at planning ahead, aren't we? :diablo:

By that time the US dollar would have collapsed and taken us with it and we will probably be using the Yuan as currency :dash1:
Thank the God's that I will be long gone by then
ok I got it now , I read IT as AA 05 131468 being printed in 05 .
thank you for pointing that out for me gang .. ,, kel ,,

That's what I was hoping before I had to face the 'millennium problem' in programming. Don't count on it.

Criky Mate I turn 59 next month.

IF the seller got that money in his bank for that crappy note the ebay fees wouldn't hurt at all :laugh2:
No way he sold it outright look for relisting

That will actually start to become an issue in 2093. I will be 127 by then so there is every chance that I wont be getting the first and last prefixes from the Reserve Bank that year. :zomby:
Will we even have cash in 2093?

eBay Final Value Fees for general listings
are capped at $250.
Fee would have been around $250. However, no feedback left for buyer suggests sale not completed therefore possibly a scam.
I'd be wary of this seller because many of his/her purchases are $1 rubbsih from China.
Of course the listing was suss, glad this seller and item was raised here on the forum so we can watch out for these kinda listings and alert
