OK we have had 2x commemorative $2 coins so that takes these off the list of Uninteresting Australian coins, But only just .
That now leaves us the 5 and 10 cent coins, same design since their inception in 1966.
The ONLY difference with these coins is the manufacturing technique , Circulation strike, Proof strike and silver proof coins.
It would be nice to see something different happening with these denominations.
Every time I add the new date coins to my 5,10 and $2 coin albums it is a bit "HO Hum" for me.
:kez_15: well I never..now I've seen it all, so now you want them to make granny bait :scratch_one-s_head: Hold on a sec :@ WHO ARE YOU and what have you done to my mate trout :laugh2:
but I know what you mean :(
I could argue (and Stuart Devlin almost certainly would) that the 5¢ and 10¢ coins are interesting -particularly the reverses. If they are interesting then why bother changing them?
Maybe you mean "boring" because they are the same old thing. Something can be interesting but eventually, after a long time, then becomes boring.
Here endeth the semantics lesson.
Interesting adjective
arousing curiosity or interest; holding or catching the attention
Boring adjective
not interesting; tedious

There is nothing Boring or Grannybait about "Circulating" Commemorative coins, They can be interesting and be had for face value.
I would think that the "Federation" 20 and 50 cent coins were responsible for many a new collector taking up the hobby.
the commemorative coins DO spark interest and coins that simply remain the same are definitely "Ho Hum".
How many dedicated 5 and 10 cent collectors are there compared with $1, 50 cent and 20 cent collectors, The main reason for this IS the issue of commemorative coins in these denominations IMHO :ok:
and there I was with the giggest fish on the line just about to :mr47_05: we need a fishing emoticon :laugh2:

The RAM will soon find out who's keen on the 5c and 10c.
2013 Gold 5c (https://eshop.ramint.gov.au/2013-5c-Gold-Coin/210239.aspx)
2013 Gold 10c (https://eshop.ramint.gov.au/2013-10c-Gold-Coin/210241.aspx)
I'll have to say you've got to be keen to buy one of those.

Djibouti has a boring lot, and the Gulf countries. I find the $2 very boring, commemorating things I don't care about.

For me the Stuart Devlin designs have that timeless beauty.
I love them.
In my opinion the most artistic Aussie coins ever produced.
And never boring.

That's because today's "designers" are lazy.
"We need to commemorate the 5th anniversary of nose picking"
"OK, lets have a round design with a 50 in the middle and a dozen noses and fingers alternating around it on a flat field that will mark easily"
"DONE! You're a genius!"
IMO, there have been very few works of art on our coins, other than SD's. The majority are complete and utter crap.
5c error coins are great the 2014 issue will be last one.
