Yep his name's David and no he isn't on this forum..

Hey Robbiegal hahaha nah no plugging here lol... He was just interested to see what people would say, I think he's just sent me a message on facebook, it may not be face to face but it's close enough :yahoo:
get the lad to lob over here
he is well known to most varieties collectors around the traps
It was because of his varieties listings that I started to get interested and collect varieties, so I started to buy from Dave years and years ago - between him and Fred Lever - I was hooked!
I always attribute his listings to inspiring my interest in the coins that I used to chuck out as they weren't 'perfect'!
just tell him there's a nutty 1964 penny collector here called Robbie
he'll know who you mean!! ha ha
cheers
why couldn't he ask him self..sound very odd :scratch_one-s_head:
hahaha Robbie I mentioned that you thought it might of been a promo plug, he knew who you were straight away, he did mention that you love your 1964 pennies lol.
and Ausjack I think he was just wanting to see if I could spin anyone out I guess hahaha.. I will see if I can get him to pop over..

Can never ever have enough of
those, eh? :)
yeah that would be great. and another great friend of his suggested just today, to ask dave about a penny I have. So the question is waiting for him, if he comes over here.
Speaking of long-lost cool people, I got a package from Ian Hartshorn today (with all the varieties information he had before he bailed out of decimals).
He says he's now into UK Farthings, 990AD to 1956. I had no idea the mint itself used to chop pennies up into quarters before they started minting round farthings during Edward I's reign.
So, tell me some of you guys are interested in this topic, and I'll use it as a hook to try and get him in here. :)
I purchased several lots of error coins from Ian and was always very happy with them. I remember he was Cobwebs on the now defunct forums. I'm pretty sure I sent him an invite to join us here.
I collect Farthings, from Q Victoria to 1956 and would be interested in reading anything Ian has to contribute. I actually recall him being a bit partial to farthings and he didn't get why more people weren't collecting them.

Ooh, details?
Is that the small hand book he published years ago?
No, its his research notes and web pages he was going to put up before his interests changed. Last entries are 2007 20ยข.
