I know we've had some RoadKill pics before, but I figured they deserve their own thread. Here's some random stuff I had lying around my desk.
Actually, I'm not sure the third one down on the left, the 1994 with not much detail, really IS roadkill. I thought it had had an acid bath or something, but I'm not so sure its PMD since I found a couple more like it. :dodgy:
1994 looks like a counterfeit to me ?
got scales?
we have one here somewhere, it also has elf like ears
yeah I know I should be in bed
sorting halfpennies and tinkering

I've had a good like, but cannot identify it. It's either a sixpence or a 5c, I think. That's if it is even an Aussie coin.
Grrrr..... Double-bar 1980, with a dirty great hole drilled most of the way through it. :(
While I'm on my pizza theme here is the latest "meatlovers" instalment. Fortunately it wasn't a wavy 20c otherwise I would have been extremely unhappy!

By now its gone to God and been reborn as a shiny new 2014 $1 I reckon.
I've been dumping all my roadkill, clearly marked as such, on one particular branch that was obstructively unhelpful about giving me their copper and paper. Well over a grand in $2 coins alone so far. :diablo:

Yep. Today's haul consisted of no coins or roadkill though... just a grand or so of notes. Mostly big paper, with a repeater and a CoA $10, plus a test note and four Crisp new AA11's.
I sadly had to pass on the two packs of new $5. Though I did check the bundles to see if any had a radar or repeater... sadly they were 194 6xx and 194 7xx, not 1 or 4. DRAT!
Oh, and AJ, sorry mate, but that little effort chewed up all my petty cash and I couldn't do the promised deposit. I'll try again Thursday. :(

we have one very similar and it has been professionally declared a fake
we were advised to hand it into the feds but also cautioned that they would confiscate it

Quote from: 'Robster' pid='32796' dateline='1383039584'Open to any theories or ideas. :dontknow:
The head side was down on a steel deck (factory, ship etc) when somebody put their rubber soled shoe on it and twisted a bit, that would leave no damage to the reverse but the obverse was scratched on all the high points. The damage wasn't from a car or from a coin on a footpath as concrete/asphalt leave different marks.
I base this on being a lifelong cheapskate who picks up lots of roadkill free money.
I had bucket loads of roadkill coins but the wife saw them and spent them....don't know what she bought but I am still paying for it!

It could be all you people that "Noodle" that are wearing them out as you sort through them :diablo::angel:

sorry for going off topic :(
:dodgy: yeah that's a joke when you look at the criminals running the country and making all the rules..I'll keep saying it while ever my bum points to the ground and that's that your better off doing white collar crime as you do no time..and the things you can do and get away with would blow your mind, very sad really but what can you do but float along and DON'T rock the boat :winkextra: Can anyone name anyone that has done any serious time for white collar crime, and how many people kill them selves due to it and should the perpetrators be punished or let walk like they do :( If you take anything as an individual from anyone it is theft but do it as a business and it's all good. If I take $5 I'll get locked up but if I pinch $5,000,000 and destroy countless lives it's ok, so these thing really make me wonder.
Sorry for the rant but I'll leave it at that for now as I feel better getting it out :)
Quotewe all put a secret mark somewhere on the coin to identify it that it has already been looked at.
We have only two banks in town. If I take $1 coins back to which bank most of them end up at the laundromat.
The laundromat banks at B of NSW and I get $1 bags there for noodling.
So, I have marked that particular coin 598 times and it is still in the loop! No?

Yup. Which is why you need to force them to pull in new coin from Armaguard.
Getting back to the OP's thread regarding "Road kill" Can you imagine what a 1984 dollar coin has suffered over the years due to the "Pokey" machines and the drinks that have covered them over the last 27 years.
and yet I still found 2 of these in my pocket change in Unc condition last year :yahoo:
The odds of not finding a buggered 1984 dollar coin in your change is about 100 to 1:angel:
Quote from: 'trout' pid='33258' dateline='1383312277'and yet I still found 2 of these in my pocket change in Unc condition
That's because of people busting them out of the brown folders. Happens quite a bit, as does finding them with remnants of mirror finish on the field around the design.
An honorable mention for this one I found noodling last night?

Some people simply have more money than sense.
I had a short wander through recent error sales on Ebay and the number of road kill/shed job errors that were selling - sheesh. Even more so when the prices some are returning are quite lucrative compared to real errors. :dodgy:
Pedro
There used to be a number of 'shed job' manufacturers and I'm guessing they're still plying their trade.
It's a shame that some people have no idea how to become educated about what they buy.
Ignorance is bliss.
That's the bit i don't get Pedro that these shed jobs sell in a lot of cases for more than genuine errors . Throw a 2 dollar coin against a wall for a couple of minutes and its now an error worth $50:dontknow:
Yes, AS it's totally bizarre. The coins look like they have been thrashed within an inch of their lives and yet sell like hot cakes.

The only logic that I can put into it is that the bids are shill designed to convince a newbie that other people are interested in the item (thus it must be real eh!) hence sucking them in accordingly.
You's could always join the other fb page, it has the occassional lively discussion and some odd looking items as well. I know some members are there.

Yes, I guess that is a real possibility Uni and there are a few around (also the "blank" on one side $5 notes seem to be re-surfacing). It would be better if they found something else do with their time!
