After reading through the "Collecting 50c" thread, I thought it might be interesting to get some views on what people focus on in the 20c market.
The 1966 Wavey 20c is probably the Daddy of the 20c.
1971 and 1985 appear to be low mintages.
Interested to hear other thoughts.
Some others to look for
2001 states
2004 "big head"
2008 gap
2010 bubble
I have found every mint mark and variety except for a 1985, 1990, 91 or 92. Ive found a 86, 87 and 88 which is pretty lucky seeing as there MSO. 1971 is low mintge but certainly not hard to find in circulation. If you needed one you could almost guarantee finding one in $100 worth i reckon.
I'm yet to see a 1985 in my change and I'm not the only one.
And I haven't seen a UN 20c in a good while either.
I agree, 1985 is by far the hardest of the coins intended for circulation. I know Jeff has found a couple.
Oh really? Might need to keep my eyes open then. I think the 1988 is maybe circulating as well too.
I'd like to know if the mint is doing a platypus for 2013. If anyone knows, speak up :-)

It is getting a bit late in the year now, I have the proof and the "Swamp Thing" coins.

I have found 5 x 1985 20c and 3 x 1988 20c coins in circulation. The last one of these coins I found was a 1985 in 2008.
Picked these up today :good:

Nice haul. :)
Enworb, you mentioned 86, 87 and 88 were MSO...what does MSO mean?

Mint Set Only :ok:
I collect them all but I do not actually collect errors unless they fall into my hands. The exception is the 66 Wavey and the Rotated 2001.
Thanks for clarification.
Were the 2001 rotated around all angles or is it just one variation?
Can someone please help me out by providing some detail around what the 2010 bubble 20c looks like?
Much appreciated.
Coxspau, the very last image on this link shows what to look for.

Awesome Unicorn, tyvm.
2005 and 2007 skeleton claws....are these countered as errors? And are there any other skeleton claw years?

Yes, they are.
These are the result of a soft strike, so can happen on any coin. I think I heard of a 2004, but other than that, I haven't seen further reports. Perhaps Queen Error the First can chime in?
I reckon you could find soft strikes on every year since 1999 that resulted in skeleton Claws. I usually only keep the ones that have the outside claw practically missing.

Wish I could answer that. I found two in different bags in the same sack, but I've also gone months without seeing a single 1966. Its just the luck of the draw I guess.
hard to believe that 1966 coins are still circulating I see a few they are 47 years old now I feel old now
I have found a wavy not too long ago.
There are still some out there.....
Search through enough coins and you WILL find one.
Good luck!
