How To" instructions for the new Gallery.
Link: http://www.australian-coins.net/gallery/
These are the 3 Navigation Tool BarsĀ to use, I will refer to them as TB1, TB2, and TB3
(http://i40.tinypic.com/333h654.jpg)
Click on Create / order my albums from TB3
1.You should be able to see My Gallery
2.To create an album, click on the "New Album" button in the bottom line
3.Click on the text input field to the right of that button then type in the album name you want to use
4.Click "OK" to submit your changes to the database. failure to do so will result in the loss of all the changes you just made.
(repeat steps 2 through 4 to add additional albums)
You can always return to this panel to edit and change album names, sort them within their parent category.
Uploading Pictures
Click on Upload file from TB1
Select the Album you wish to upload to
Click on the little Magnifying glass to find the location in your PC
Select the picture/s you want to upload, (double click for just one picture), (if there are multiples to go into the same album, hold Ctrl while you select them all) then click open, all pictures will be transferred.
Making an Album Private or Public,
Go to Modify my Albums Bottom TB3
Choose Album Select from the drop down menu.
(The next couple lines are self explanatory, Album Title, and Description),
To Set the permissions you want to apply
(These are the 5 choices you'll have for Album can be viewed by)
Everybody (Public Album)
Me Only
Members of the RegisteredĀ Group (ie Members)
Complete the remainder of the settings for the rest of the lines.
When all settings are completed, click (Green tick) Update Album
(**NB, this is also where you can change the Name of your Album if required).
You'll need to do this for each Album you have created.
**If you have specified a password in the field "Album password", the dropdown list "Album can be viewed by" will default to "Me only". That is expected behaviour and is perfectly fine if you want password-protection enabled. In other words: if you specify an album password, you can not restrict access further.
 ok, see how I go..so when can we start, after the weekend :)
I like ya new quote nevol, how true :good:
You can start now.
Yes, you can start now. The gallery will not be wiped out when I roll the forum across this weekend.
Sweet, I might have a play directly..thanks team :good:
REMEMBER to log in first :good: this is just a test http://173.255.242.26/gallery/albums/userpics/10131/coins_060.jpg
Doesn't seem to hard at the moment, good work for now :)
so have to just copy paste for now but that's ok
it loads my scans better than pic's for some reason..please don't go into the tec side as I just don't understand yet sorry but I'll keep playing and slowly work it out
A note to those trying to upload images to the public albums that I have already created. Firstly, I have to approve all images uploaded to those albums. Secondly, those images will be publicly visible to anyone, you do not need to be a forum member to see them. Finally, I'd appreciate it if you could fill out the details along with the image. Including the country, year, denomination, grade etc. A description would be good too. The reasons for this will become apparent soon.
Roger that, sorry mate :good:
So noted.
Fill out "Keyword/s" also
Very important for the search function to work to your advantage.
It's looking good :yahoo:
I'm lost already and the new location isn't up yet.
I hope there will be a big HELP button somewhere?

That's right, the new forum is no different to this one. The gallery is new and if you don't want to use it then you dont have to :)
Maybe everyone is taking this wrong. It's not a new forum. It's exactly the same but it's just moving house. You'll log in just the same.
There will be the added feature of the image gallery but that will simply be another link up the top right of the screen for a new function you can use or not, your choice.
thanks Kathryn , that is what some people like me just wanted to know .. thanks very much .. sounds so simple now . ,, kel ,,
Oh, OK. I shall try later after I have returned home from hospital.

How much space is allocated to each forum member to post pictures of ones coin collection please.
I am very fast running out of space in posting pictures in the topics of the forum. I think I need to start to edit many of my inserts there.
So if I am to edit my inserts, can I put them into the Gallery and then refer them back to the forum for one to peruse?

I'm sure many know more about this than me but under your User CP click on the link "Manage Attachments" down the left side. THis tells me that I have an "Attachment Quota" of 14.65 Mb and that I've used 0%. I have about 25 Photos in the Gallery and paste the link from that into the message so the photo appears. It doesn't appear there is any size limit on the number of photos in the Gallery and they don't count towards your attachment limit.
I stopped using the attachments as soon as Nevol sorted me out on how to use the gallery :good:
You also get big pic's instead of the crappy little ones that come from attachments :wavemulticolor:
Currently there is no gallery quota. So post as much as you like in there Goldy.

Just created my gallery, this is my first addition.
(testing to see if it works)

Quote from: 'Triggersmob' pid='26183' dateline='1377428324'(http://www.australian-coins.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10113/1926_Australian_One_Penny.JPG)
It worked.
I have learnt that a
bulk upload can be done to the TACF Gallery and naturally that's
waaaay better than anything TinyPic can do, but remember that
Quotefrom Mark "The Gallery is restricted by absolute dimensions of the image AND the image size. The maximum dimension for either height or width of the image is 1280px and the maximum image size is 1024KB"
, anything larger than this and the Image will not load.
Before I do these Instructions, it's important that
all the Images you wish to upload are in the
same location on your PC, with no other images amongst them.
Step by Step Instructions for a bulk upload:
1. Go to your Gallery
2. Choose 'Upload File'
3. Select the Album you wish the images to be uploaded to
4. Click on the "Browse' button
5. Locate the images on your PC
6. Click on the first image, hold down the Shift Key and Click on the last image, release the shift key
7. All images should now be selected
8. Go to the bottom of the screen and click on 'Open'
9. No need to do any more, just sit back and wait, all the files will upload like magic.
This is easy peasy stuff.... If I can do it, anybody can do it. If you need piccies of each step, I can do this as a pictorial, just ask for it. It'll take me a little while though.
Works well; I have been doing that already. Didn't think that people might not know to select multiple files.
If you want to skip some files the press "Ctrl" key (instead of "Shift") and click on the images you want -only those images will be selected and uploaded.
The same selection procedures work for selecting files for many other things as well eg. copying or moving files.
Is it possible to move pics between albums? My current uploads are in one album and it's all a bit of a mess. I want to create individual albums for certain themes and transfer the already uploaded pics into them. Can anyone please help with this?
Thanks in advance
QuoteIs it possible to move pics between albums?
I would like to know this as well. I've had a couple looks to see if files can be moved, but haven't been able to figure it out. :scratch_one-s_head:
Select the album that file is in.
Select Edit File/s
(http://i679.photobucket.com/albums/vv160/ford_prefect/Photoscape/001EditFiles_zps264385ec.jpg)
Alter the New Album where you wish to relocate file too
from the Drop Down List.
Apply changes.
Thanks for that, much appreciated. Frustrating how something so daunting can be so simple when pointed in the right direction. Especially us nuts n bolts people. :)
Another useful thread, as well.
One thing I don't understand is why the gallery requires Flash for multiple uploads. Doesn't anyone realise that Flash Player is now deprecated, and has been entirely replaced by HTML5? It's only a matter of time now until Flash will be blocked on all the latest web browsers. Is anyone planning to upgrade the gallery so you can use all the features without Flash?
Have to talk to Mark about that, I reckon. Pretty sure he's at the footy atm though. :)
