Thanks Unicorn, I am slowly getting the hang of the posting of photos, I have just got myself a scanner and am now using photoscape so hopefully the photos will turn out alright now. I just posted some 10 cent coins on another post and they seem to of turned out alright I think.

I'm not sure if it is my scanner or not but can anyone else see the doubling on the 2? It's also on a couple of other 20 cent coins I scanned earlier.

Cheers, Matt

I'm really wondering what they'll be saying at the Mint when they see those PMD 50's that their trying to pass off as real errors,if they even contacted the Mint that is.

Mattgold,
There is another thread about some pmd coins started by "larena" on coin community forum.
Everyone advise that the coins were damaged by she insisted that they were some type of error.
Looks like she listed one of them on ebay for $750 after repeatedly being advised they are worthless.
Larena also seems to be the original discoverer of the bubble 20c.

Well, not exactly.  She was the first to report them on CCF on 19 Feb 2012.  By then, some had already been listed on Ebay, and I had a couple that I hadn't reported, but I put images up about 6 hours after she posted her first image.

There's a very lengthy (12 pages) discussion of them here:
http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=111441

I believe the first one on Ebay was sold by a young chap that lives not far from me, for the princely sum of $0.99.

Larena claimed to have sold some for around $20, but from what I could see, it was all "Kaka del Toro", as she had listed 3 for $19.75 each, and none of them sold, and there was no record of her selling any, well, not on Ebay anyway. Her son sold one for $26.00 on 11 May.

The prices being realised now vary from $0.99 - $5.

Yes I bought 3 of them in aUnc.
These are the type of errors I like best because they look like a design change and not simply a die falling to bits or a mishap in the press :ok:
The incuse 50 cents is the best example of these (unofficial) design change coins IMHO :good:

I think they will increase a bit in value. Like trout says theyre a nice variety. I think the word just needs to be spread. Better grades might be a bit harder to find.

Yeh that's why I circled them, in different spots than usual from what I've seen.

The second pair are 'bubble' coins and I think the others might just be dings.
Title: RE: Is this what you call a bubble?

I was thinking that maybe one of the other coins was a ding but I'm sticking with them both being bubbles as well as under the magnifier the bubble spot have the same characteristics as the other bubbles.

Matt

I'm not sure if characteristics was the word I was looking for but I used it anyway :dodgy: lol

I've decided to keep one of the 20 cent coins out of the 2 but the one I'm keeping is going to the maybe draw as I can't get that little bit out of my head thinking that it is a ding now :dodgy: haha..

I'm off to the bank shortly so I might come back with a couple bags of coins to kill some time, let you all know how it goes.
