I just thought that a thread was started to thank members for their generosity and help.
Also for thanking members for items traded and bought.
I'll start it off by thanking Enworb for the stunning 2003 slabbed MS68 Volunteers 50 cent coin that he sent me.
This is probably the only coin that I WON'T break out of the slab.
Cheers Matty YOU are a legend , Now I have a benchmark to grade PCGS style for 50 cent coins :yahoo: :dance2:
Enworb seems to have found a chink in Trout's "armour"! :shok:

I think its fair to say i owed you one trout. Glad it has a good home now.
That's OK Trout. I am more used to rudeness than politeness.
Did I say that?

A lovely, unexpected surprise in the mail today.
Special thanks to Jayson. Keep an eye on your mail now.
Jeff
get away with ya mate, I done it 'cause you help others and I like to give credit where due :winkextra: So your very welcome, just hope you like it :)
A very big thank you to Enworb for the saflaps and the shock of one and two cents as they'll look really good in my set and a huge upgrade :hi: I'll get some pic's up later.
I got a surprise in the mail today too!!!!! Thank you AJ.
Your most very welcome PP as it's been my pleasure and honer to give a bit back, no I didn't have to do it but people didn't have to be nice to me either and if it makes others happy I'm all for it.
Everone is most very welcome as it's the little thing that count with me and this has been my way of thanking people for their kind actions and little things they do, eg coins, it doesn't matter to me if it's a $100 coin or one that's worth nothing..it's the thought that counts..if it's sending me things to try for storage, books to read, or even sending an email, it's the thought that counts..if it's giving me free post and bonuses or organising to send to the other side of the country or up to brissie to surprise others, it's the thought that counts..sending me whatever it might be I appreciate it.
So due to these thought full action I thought it would be nice for people to get something back when they didn't have to do anything so a very big thank you to all for making my shitty life a lot better, I really do appreciate you :thank_you:
hugs, xx
It's about time you gave the shed job coins a rest and created these beautiful pieces. :diablo::laugh2:
Seriously tho the generosity and selflessness of some of the members on this site is what makes I SO special :yahoo:

You should consider getting a Supreme album, that's a very nice penny (nice RV florin too), I'd hate for them to acquire a dull, uniface tone from the album.
Thanks Walter, I might take the better one's out for now. It's just that trout gave it to me and I don't know if they make the type set in surpreme as this is a hard one to find apparently (not that I've tried) so it's my pride and joy and many members have helped build it but I hear you and thank you for the heads up as I was worried about them hitting but didn't think of the hidden side.
Oh and thank you very much to Nevol for these little beauties :hi:

A big thank you to everyone who bid on my ebay items last weekend. It really was appreciated. Cheers Uni
A HUGE thanks to AC for being my pen pall in my hour of need :friends: I really appreciate the time you took to help me mate and so very very sorry I bought you down, it truly wasn't my intension..please for give me :give_rose:
And an even bigger thanks to Kel, I'm feeling better mentally but the physical is still how's ya father. But just the thought of having a mate come has motivated me greatly and picked me up heaps :yahoo: having something to live for and look forward to makes a huge difference when your down and out so just the thought of meeting people I like has given me a little spark :hi: so not long and Kel should be here :wavemulticolor:
So by 2015 I'd like to have the house in a decent order so I can then go see AC and others in vic, Mark and PP and others around SA then to see one of me bestest in WA then to NT then QLD and home and see a few coin show and things along the way but it might have to be done in stages just have to see how things are going but if I could have it all done by 2020 I think I'd be pretty bloody happy :winkextra:
And also big thanks to everyone here, your support means a hell of a lot and I appreciate it so very very much and love ya's all :give_heart: I still have my up's and downs but thanks to some real  's here it makes it easier :thank_you:

I was happy to hear that the 'meeting of the minds' was such a huge success A.J.!. The wonderful work that Mark and P.P. do to keep the forum on track has produced an excellent 'by product'- a friendship that would not have been possible otherwise.!
Hopefully more members can follow your example and when possible meet face to face. :wavemulticolor:

Yeah I agree Steve..what would your missus say or are you going to start a harem :mocking:
nah, no probs there
the big fish was just delighted with his gift and said so
we all know that the number 1 Queen fish in Troutsville is Mrs Trout
good grief - the man builds a house extension or a veggie garden for his fair lady almost every time he comes home
now that is true love in my books!!
he just does like most and that's what he's told..could we bring Mr RG in on this one :winkextra:
nah
leave him in his box and outta this one
I rarely tell the old man to do stuff
I would think that most of the female race also never tell their husband to do things ... they ask in many different ways
tho, I do engage in a few tactics
1. can you please .... (that one is like a broken record and really, has no effect)
2. 'I think I will get that bloke from the yellow pages to come and give a quote for... ' (sometimes that one ends up in an argument because number 1 (above) asked for a year or so earlier went unheard .. because he never listens to me)
3. - this one usually works ... 'I think I will do this myself' .... (he can't stand that and absolutely has to do it before I enter the tool shed/or touch the garden weapons of mass destruction i.e. lawn mower)
4. sookie , I have been wanting blah for x amount of years and you never listen to me (refer to number 1), etc etc (again, that one often ends up in an argument)
Outcome : it gets eventually gets done without me telling him to do

Hi Mark,
I am glad you and PPH like the presents.
The picture seems to look a little worse than the coin did in the 2x2.

How do you think that one would be graded by PCGS?

Quote from: 'trout' pid='37097' dateline='1386980919'Thank you AJ for the organisational gift .
I no longer have to scan through thousands of emails to find addresses anymore :dance2::dance:
how does that work Trout?
I scan thousands of e-mails for address
:laugh2: well that works by him either emailing or ringing telling me he's lost my address so I've been saying he's a bad as me so needs a book and I told him I'd send one with my name first so :winkextra: Would you like one :blush2:
oh ha ha
well I do have 2 address books
I just have to write the addresses in the books
well there's not much point in sending another book then is there RG :winkextra: I have a little book I write appointments and things but the only thing is I have to remember to look at it :dash1:
And a big thanks to Pedro, gee it's nice getting cards :hi:
A HUGE thank you to Emu for finding me a superb set of coins :yahoo:
very much appreciated Mate :good:
Thanks to trout and AC for the calls, appreciate it heaps :hi:

I had to pick up Sel and bring him out to my place and I was as nervous as hell But at the end of the day we both had a great time .
What an unassuming intelligent GENTALMAN it was a privilege for me to meet the bloke , Crikey I recon he has forgotten more about coins than I will ever know.
He had just lost his desire for life and his most trusted friend his Wife and he still took the time to visit me, Freaking awesome .
:good: yeah couldn't agree more mate, as it's that they have taken the time to visit as I'm so far out of the way it's not funny so it mean so very much as I have a two hour/180km return trip at night if I want to go to my nearest coin club so I can't see my self going to one around here in a hurry so this is my coin club and for these truly beautiful people not just to say it but actually do it and to come all this way just to visit poor little old me really gets to me, just beautiful I say :cray: and same as all the little things that members do that mean FA to them and most but mean a hell of a lot to me as we don't have to be nice but I'm so very thankful for it 'cause by god it has changed my world and makes me want to be a better person my self, love you lot :give_heart:

thank you all for the best wishes with me and dawn ,
we were able to bring her home this afternoon , and she had to go straight to bed for now as she is not well at all and they told me to bring her back if she gets any worse ,
they put it down as kidney infection and gave her antibotics by drip for 24 hours , and now they recon she just needs rest time , so I am
mr mom just for now ..

no probs possum
here is a pic of press one - a bit closer with the coin coming down the roller to the exit slot (where they sometimes get jammed!)
bit of reflection but you get the drift!
WOW the presses are way bigger than the little takkas at the ANDA show in Perth :good:
I say they are. I couldn't even move one of these by myself.........they can apply pressure , if my mind serves me correct, of up to 300 tons.
A HUGE thank you to all the  's that call or email as it means so much and I really do appreciate it so :hi: I have been going pretty good with the odd bad day but yeah pretty good all in all and haven't had a smoke for 9 days so going ok there but man is it hard..no no not me :blush2: giving up smoking, you lot :winkextra:
Hey Ausjack, giving up on the smokes. A very well well done from me and if there is any support I can give you, just ask.
I went through the same sort of thing many years ago and it took just over eight weeks to settle down.
One thing I will stress though. If you feel down and out because of the giving up smokes, for goodness sake ring the Hot Line. They worked wonders for me and it really did work.
I went cold turkey and haven't had a smoke or needed one in just over 20 years.
Hooray.
Gee thank you so very much for your support Bruce, appreciate it mate, wow I hope I can do 20 years as it really isn't good for me and I should look after my self s bit better :blush2: and all the extra coin I can get now and other things I can do with the extra money :kez_15:
Yep, well done AJ. :yahoo: The worst is over now, and it should start getting easier.
I agree with Goldie as I did the same as him in 1993, went cold turkey, and haven't touched a ciggy since. Sing out if you need any support.
Stick with it AJ. Proud of you mate.
My Wife quite near the end of 2012.
She has been without a cig now for 14 months.
Best thing she ever did. She was coughing her
guts up every morning before that.
Good work AJ!
Keep at it!
I only gave them away a couple of years ago myself!
(Like Goldie & Nevol, cold turkey too).
WOW thanks heaps for the support team :good: yeah another reason why I've been a bit quiet of late, trying to get my mind on other things and yes listen to mum caugh all the time and thought I don't want that to be me in another 20 years as I have worked in some really good places with asbestos and different chemicals that I think has done some damage to my lungs anyway but why add to it so it's time for a change and I suppose now is as good a time as any, glad to see I'm not the lone soldier :)
That is a good point to Ausjack. Smokes cost money and by giving them up, what to do with the money normally spent on smokes.
So what did I do. Well I still had a second mortgage on the home so I added the money I saved from buying smokes to the repayments.
It worked.
If you have any debt that you are paying off, add the smokes money to the repayments. It is another incentive "not to smoke again".
It all works. Trust me. I have been there and done that.
Keep up the good work.
day 10 and nearly bald :laugh2: just joking, I'm going ok but it's funny that around 10/11 at night I crave it but then it passes, just find it really funny that it's only at that time at night.
Ausjack, be brave and DON'T give in.
Still going strong GS but gee it's hard mate but you know exactly what I'm talking about :hi:
Keep your mind on all the positives and how much better off you'll be, both health wise and financially.
C'mon, I know you can do it. I puffed away for 33 years and gave it up in a heartbeat. For me, the hardest part was making the decision to stop and after that I was home & hosed.
Stay strong AJ. Just think about what you can do with all the extra cash you'll have that has NOT gone up in smoke.
:thank_you: Nevol, I hear ya loud and clear mate :)
Thanks to Jeff, I NOW have a couple of rabbit ears :dance2: :)

Can you post a pic or two Goldie, I'd love to see what condition it was in ...... ie: well worn, or accidently spent from something possibly kept.
My Mules are all up in the GALLERY section of the Forum.
My comment of "Another MULE" was tongue in cheek in response to the above comment by JeffH where he stated "What $1 coin(s) can you give to a collector who "has the lot"?
Ah, thanks Goldie, I didn't see the tongue in cheek! I thought you'd added a new one to the collection. (It will probably happen now).
If only. I haven't one in three years or more.
My latest finds have been the 2012 "Circles" (20+)on the 50c pieces and rotated 2010 50c Pieces (6).
thanks to my forum friends, love you lot :friends:

Got them out and had a look and looking ok but have to go back in the oil for a bit more as there were still a few small green spots when they dried but I'm happy with the way they are coming along just wish it didn't take so long, but should be worth the trouble to save them from further deterioration :)
A HUGE thank you to Ozcoins for the surprise gift.

Well spotted AJ. I did not see that one
A huge thankyou to my beanie clad mate for some unicoins in the mail today! :friends:
:mocking: yeah well do you know how hard it is to find the bloody things, unicorns are very rare my friend but you know that being one :) and your most very welcome mate and did ya notice they are different :friends: And just like you they are wild as look close and you'll see they are chained down but the big pussy cat doesn't so shows how tough and scary unicorns are :laugh2: I want pic's :winkextra:
QuoteI want pic's
Me too! :yahoo:
Some music to go with them ...... couldn't decide between this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqbgzvKVzlQ&feature=kp) or this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbqH4FjiXac) ...... thanks again AJ.

Mate it's not a problem but wish I could have found more and I will eventually :friends: man do you really wanna get me going on chains now, as joe cocker comes straight to mind :laugh2: and see what I was saying about how wild they are as the big pussy cat doesn't get a chain and they're meant to be one of the toughest things on the planet so I know not to mess with a unicorn :winkextra:
I think they are pretty cool and thought it funny how one has his tongue out :P
Oh and don't ask what or where that red stuff come from on the Canadian, let just say something CAN be prised from dead fingers :diablo:
Not that I want them but gee it's nice to get a thank you email for being a friend, gives me a warm fuzzy :friends: But in saying that I am hopeless and sometime forget to but I don't mean to sorry :(
Oh and before I forget, the BIGGEST thank you to the member that called last night as they must have seen how stressed I have been so just so nice for someone to try and easy my stress and in fact truly amazing that some care so much when I know they have better and more important things to worry about, some very special people here that will always have a place in my heart :give_heart:
And another big thank you to my mate Jim for the call just now, top people :friends:
Another way of looking at why the Unicorn has a chain on it, is that it's so rare, the chain is required to stop it escaping. Not necessarily because it's so fierce.
Just another take on it, but whichever way you see it, they're really rare, even on coins. :good:

A lot of Canadians don't like the chain because they associate it with being "Chained" to England.
Gee Nevol I think your right BUT don't say that as unicorns are totally wild, just look at how out of control ours is :laugh2: And yes I have had fun finding them but I am pretty good at sourcing thing if I have to :)
And yes I can understand why the Canadians would think like that trout and don't think I'd be happy with it either :good:

ummm well there's so many comebacks there but I don't want to get either of us in trouble and especially you as your in striking distance so I'll be good..for a change, well try for now anyway :)
Very good pictures ever if I say so myself.
Nice Photos!!
Thanks for sharing. I am glad you like it.
Yes very much appreciated thank you Oz :thank_you:

Bloody nice coin Trout, how much you want for it?
Whilst we hugging each other, I need to thank Fulvio for letting me know about this site. As a fairly new collector, I am learning so much from you guys, you really do know your stuff, and to see some of your coins is just amazing. How much did you want Trout?

From what I could see of the pic's a definite 3 steps , None of that bloody awful die cracking on the obverse and with an overall grade of at least AU55 but I recon it is a ten in my book :P:

While I am on this thread.
A huge thank You to Mark for giving me a kick in the guts and making me actually TRY to take a better pic.
Thanks Mate , Sometimes you just have to "slap" the child in order to make it learn :yahoo::angel:
Now that I have found the cameras have settings and I can control what they do, I will experiment and do some self education and maybe, Just maybe I may be able to take a reasonable snap of a coin in the end :)
Cheers Mate , everyone needs a "Push" in the right direction every now and then

Anyway I thought that I was the only Canberra Florin Fanatic on the planet , That bloody Fulvio directed you here just to wind me up the sneaky bastard :laugh2:
Anyway having said all that it is great to be in contact with a "Kindred" spirit that fully appreciates the very best designed and largely unappreciated pre decimal Florin :wavemulticolor:
In my short collecting life I have about 7 27s, I like to think that each one is better than the last, I'm working my way up to a magnificent proof, maybe when I'm 70 and can use all my superannuation;)
I just took some photos of some of my 1927 PH florins
I was thinking of starting a steps thread
they always seem intriguing

Today in the mail we received a beautiful thankyou card with an Aussie scene on the front, a hand written note inside by the young man and the following:

Thank-you Nevol for my surprise birthday pressie today

Gee how nice was that, your a true sweetheart Nevol :give_heart: Now I'll have to do something nice to get back in the good books :winkextra: so what can I send :scratch_one-s_head: that Mr RG would like :)
no no - we have all that we want and more!!
Nevol and I have done something spontaneously nice for each other so it's evens!!!
But thank you for the sweet intentions - it is very nice and you are a person who just loves giving but all that you have sent in the past is plenty enough AJ and thank-you for those when you have sent them xx
All good mate :friends: sometimes it's just nice being nice, I think most of the time I actually get more out of it than the person receiving, sort of like smiling or saying G'Day to someone just walking down the street :) But it's funny how some will smile and say G'Day back and also amazing the amount that just give you a strange look  but then I am a scary dude..I wish :mocking:
Oh and you should see the marties as they're powering :thank_you:
thanks
everything in my garden this morning was covered in a hard frost so I think I will lose most of my veggie patch by tonight even though I spent a small fortune on nets to protect them
and the next 3 nights are also forecast for -4
so i reckon that's it for my garden
so far the little plants in the 'plastic green house' are still alive - 2 marties about 5 cms high
Yes, white and crisp here this morning -next few nights forecast negative. So goodbye capsicums, chillies, tomatoes etc.
:(
yep, it is disaster
I think we had -5 last night so most of our veggies look as if they have been burnt
I was experimenting to trial a winter veggie patch with nets
the tough old & very tall broccoli plants seem ok though
snow peas survive cold, I have silver beet and broad beans, the lettuce just refuses to do anything, cant even get seeds to germinate, pity as they usually go well.
oh yeah
I think the low lying snow peas in my veggie are ok as a matter of fact
Thanks to AJ for the quarters that turned up, unexpected, yesterday.
Now I did send you my spares list didn't I?
Truly my pleasure Jeff :friends: yes you did mate but me being the dunderhead I am forgot to take note of what I just sent so after you update it again please send me another copy and if I come across any more I'll forward them on ;) Sorry they're not in the best of nick but I thought it's better to fill the hole then upgrade later :)
:mocking: so how did you think I knew what to send..I'm not a mind reader :laugh2: sorry I wanna be good
Thank You[/b][/size]

to Sulla for the 6x 2014 $2 Remembrance coins, one will be going into my birdie collection as well.
:wavemulticolor:
Your very welcome Nancy, just hope you like them :) and any time you ready with the pic's mate :D Look close as they all have errors, those funny inside rim marks on two of them that I haven't seen on commemoratives before, cuds/fill on the 2 on the reverse and one also has a cud/fill on the one, look and ye shall see :winkextra: I was going to write on them but me being the turd I am thought you wouldn't have any trouble working them out :) and my writing is crap :(
Oh and one had a nice big cud down the queens nose.
 Just wanted to thank my special friends for the lovely gifts I have received over the last few days, I really appreciate the thought and you taking the time to send, love ya's :give_heart: And thanks for emails and phone calls, it really does mean a lot to me :cray: :friends:

Pleasure AJ, but most of the thanks goes to Ken.
Nothing wrong with the pic mate. :)
Just would have been better if they weren't in the bags so the coins were touching but then they're so pretty I don't want to touch them so I'll have to put my gloves on :good:
Thanks to Triggersmob for filling a gap.
And, special thanks for the extra you slipped in -lovely coin; now I have a silver dollar.
Glad you liked them Jeff and thank you also for the coins you sent me.

Thanks Mate. :)
I really like the bi metal coins and wish our useless lot could get with the program but I can't see it ever happening. And here the Germans are doing the plastic ring now so we're so far behind it's not funny. I really like them but way out of my price range.

Some of our grannybait coins have been bimetal :ok:
Don't start me, I mean for circulation :winkextra:
If you haven't seen them suss these out and apparently they have different shades blue for the different mints (five all up I think), they're just so cool, maybe even cooler than me..nah they couldn't be that cool :D

They are going to stretch it out over the next few years with releases of different colour rings too.
Gee that would end up a nice looking set.

A big set too, with 5 different mints to collect as well. Each mint has a slightly different shade of the colour ring.

Voolverths ?? :)
All jokes aside though, there is a great sense of community on this forum where collectors are more than happy to help out their fellow collectors because they want to and without any thought of monetary gain.
That is what makes this place rather unique and it is something that makes me feel privileged to be a part of this community/forum.
Keep up the good work folks
I second that motion :friends: Except for a few of the trouble makers like Fulvio, Uni and Jeff that can remain nameless :mocking:
Well one troublemaker was nameless in your post.
:scratch_one-s_head: gee now who did I miss, can't think of who it would be sorry :whistle2: :blush2:
Quote from: 'ausjack' pid='96548' dateline='1472734286'Except for a few of the trouble makers like Fulvio, Uni and Jeff that can remain nameless :mocking:
Gee, I was sure that the trouble makers were Irwin Toy Ltd and after them Milton Bradley. :scratch_one-s_head:

They tell me that Milton Bradley is now a part of Hasbro.

Uni Uni Uni I knew you were trouble (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujac8wi39vw) right from your first post :mocking:
:laugh2: I think we need Goatieman for that last one AJ!
I think you should grow a goatie and become the new goatieman :)
has anyone heard from goatie?
He hasn't been on the forum for a couple of years .
Occasionally I'll call him and the last time I spoke to him a few months ago he was doing well but he has other things on like his business and he's little bloke that's quickly getting big takes up a lot of his time now :)

Knowledge can be a Curse sometimes Barry
Many thanks to Fulvio. I now have 2 x 2016 Fivers:yahoo:
On first sight, my immediate thought was "Gee whiz, they're small", but after checking they're maybe 1mm shorter, and 1mm narrower.
Even I have to admit it must be an optical illusion, as my eyesight isn't good enough to discern that tiny degree of difference. I thought it was going to be 5mm smaller each way! Duh!
They look quite nice in hand and I'm pretty chuffed to have them.
Many thanks to Nancy, Trout and Jeff and for the beautiful coins I have received recently.
All very much appeciated. :)
A huge Thank You to Kel for sending me a 2015 spew roo.
Thanks Mate, Very much appreciated :yahoo::)
Thanks again to Nancy for some lovely NZ 1/2 pennies.
Many thanks Nancy. :)
Many thanks to Interest for the 2015 and 2016 Anzac $1 coins, much appreciated Mate :yahoo:

My pleasure Humpy. :)
Thank you very much Trout for the 2016 $2.00's & $1.00's they are going to make up a bit of a mint set to be given to two young boys down in Melbourne.
Thank you
I would like to Thank Cougar for not only finding a 2007 Wedding Set for me but for also setting up the deal so that i could buy it as well.
I was also unable to convince Him to accept the finders fee.
Thank you Mate, I owe you one Big time :good::yahoo:
Thanks very much Jim. Now I have a lifetime supply of capsules I think.
Just have to work out if there is any secret to separating the two halves -they don't seem keen to come apart.
Insert a sharp fine bladed knife in the join and simply "Twist" :ok:
An old "Stanley" blade seems to do the trick. Tips might be buggered but the centre section is still sharp and they are reasonably strong.

Tip.
Pinch the missuses sharp veggie knife :)
At the risk of my life -you know what she could do with that?
Doesn't bear thinking about!
Ill say thanks to the few people ive bought off via ebay who are members here.. Purplepenny, Drake sterling and trout... that i know of anyways... probably more.
And thanks more generally to everyone who puts effort into sharing information here/answering questions.. it really helps.
Many thanks to trout. You have made one lady quite happy.
He's may hide his light under a bushel so, suffice it to say, he is really a softy at heart.
