Have we seen 2012 coins in circulation yet??
I have not seen any coins but have heard of some banknotes around.
No 2012 coins that I'm aware of, still waiting for some of the 2011's to start showing up. :rolleyes:

The only coin I have seen dated 2011 is that horrible thing with Will and Kate on the 20c coin.
The higher in all other coins is 2010 and that was only a 10c coin.
We must live at the end of the world.
I have a suspicion that 2012 may be one of those mint pack only years.
I hope so I spent about $200 just to get these for my 50 cents album.

There is a high chance that the plain 50c, aka baby mint set 50c will turn up in change at some point, but the coloured 50c and the proof one will always hold there money.
They are cool too; I ended up getting a mint and proof set for 2012 :) who can resist the colored and guilded 50c.
I will spew if they bring out a 2012 50 cent coin because the baby set was nearly twice the price of the colerised set.
Hmm, the interesting coin-s in the baby mint set is the $1 Ethel Pedley and baby token NCLT; I had to try really hard to get the Dot and the Kangaroo token, in the end I got one.
The mint didn’t make any tokens in the baby proof set, and everyone went crazy getting the mint one.
Did you pull apart a baby mint set?

I 'discovered' 2 x 2012 5c in my purse this morning, before I went shopping. I must have got them in change on Friday. Sneaky lil' beggars. Tiny SD and the Echidna's outline (between the spines on it's back) has gone walkabout. It was only there for a few years and pftt, gone again!
They're my first 2012 coins from circulation and I still don't have all the 2011 ones yet.

Out of curiosity, which 2011 ones haven't you seen? I haven't seen a $2 yet, but I think I've seen at least one of everything else.
I suppose if you count the single 2011 10c that I got a while back, all I'm waiting for is the $2, but in 3 mths it's 2013, and all the 2011 coins are not circulating yet.
Are the security companies having a go at us collectors? :dodgy: :grin:

I found a 2012 $1 and 50 cents in circulation. not as impressed as I used to be with these new finds . their friends follow pretty soon after

markn brought me 2012 20c here in Adelaide. they're not keepers though after one of them bounced across the tile floor.
I found another 11 2012 10 cent coins. It suspect that we may end up with a high mintage for this coin
Here in Melbourne there are lots of 2012 10c but I have only seen one 2011 10c.
2012 5c, 10c, 20c and 50c have hit Adelaide so far. The smallest three only in the past week for me.
Latest $1 is 2011 and latest $2 is 2010
So far, my entire hoard of 2012 coins from circulation consists of:
5c x 10
10c x 4 (plus 2 error ones I bought)
20c x 15
50c x 8
$2 Poppy x 2
$2 Elder x 2
Still no 2012 $1 though.

Bank here has none but have had report that local RSL (how appropriate) has given out a lot in change. They must have separate delivery and not get them from the bank.
Might go there and check it out to see if I can pick up a few -maybe even a bag!

Im pretty sure the reverse die of the coloured version is actually different to the circulation die. The flower in the centre is not struck on the coloured version as far as i can tell
It certainly is different. The Poppy is just a vague shape, and if not for the colouring, it would be all but invisible amongst the pattern.
I don't have either an RSL one or a C Mint Mark one for comparison, so not sure if they are different to either of the below.

From what I can see on the C MM one on the RAM site, the poppy is quite smooth, but it's possibly just an artists impression, not a true representation of the coin.
I think you'll find there's no poppy on the coloured coin because it's impossible to align the coin for printing in a production environment. Pad printed dollars are made by hand in the proof room at the RAM, and thus aligned by hand. That's possible when there's a few thousand to make. But half a million? No, not possible. Hence the poppies on the coloured coins can have no particular alignment and the RAM didn't pre-strike a poppy on the coin.
i got a phone call yesterday they had my 2 more poppy $ 2.00 coins ready to be picked up , so i went in to town this morning to get them and they had the wrong ones , they had the c mm with the 3 fold cover but i wanted the ones like the first day covers with the stamp also , at $ 19.95 . so now they are going to try and get me 2 of them .. bad mistake by aust post ,,. for me around trip of 75 kms and about $ 10.00 in fuel .. .. ,, kel ,,
I have got the complete set of all poppy coins now.
All the coloured ones are over the writing, no poppy design underneath the colour; this is the same for the RSL coin and the Canberra mintmark and PNC c mintmark
The circulation type is the only coin design with a poppy picture incorporated into the base design of the coin.
Also if anyone can’t get the circulation poppy $2 coin, I have some spare from change today.
Found my first 2012 Aboriginal Elder $2 coin today.
Still don't have a 2011 yet though.
I got another Remembrance Day $2 coin the other day, thankfully less bag-marked than the other pair.
Plain $2 coins seem to be more common-place now.

Nothing yet. The 2011 $1 have only recently been seen so it might be a wait yet.

20c x 4
10c x 3
5c x 2 plus 1 roll
$2 remembrance x 23
$2 Elder x 4
No 2012 $1 coins yet and have only found less then 10 2011 $1 coins.
Have not had a close look for variations yet.

A bit late in responding to your above comment jeffh but you are incorrect.
The info stated on page 172 id correct as I have some of the coins in my UNC collection.
I have just completed some of my cataloguing of my collection using my coins and comparing them to what Greg has listed in his catalogue.
I am afraid that the $1 section of this current catalogue needs a great deal of amendments/corrections.
So I am wondering if Greg is reading this, would you prefer a PM list of corrections/amendments or put up here.
I prefer putting them up here.

I dare say if there were any where near 17,975,000 minted all of us would have found them by now, but strangely, you're the only one who has found any.

Well, judging by past performances, I'm more inclined to believe them than you.
I've also checked and Goldie has NOT found any of these in circulation, so you're on your own with that particular claim.

Nobody claims to have found any, not even you. Maybe you should check the date on the ones you think are 2012, they might be another year and you need better glasses.

maybe a picture of them will clear up any form of disagreement about 2012 one dollar coins .
According to Macca's there are 100,000 2012 MOR coins, So they are NOT particularly Rare .
These were only available in the 2012 Mint sets that had the Hyper colour 50c coin in it.

There were NO 2012 MOR minted for circulation.
The only possible way one of these coins could be found in circulation is if someone had spent a Mint set coin.
So if anyone has found multiples of these coins in circulation then they are either incredibly lucky or are telling "Porkies"
