The 9 is lower and slightly tilted to the right, and is also further from the 1 than all other groups. The left side of the foot on first 2 aligns with left edge of denticle 10. The left side of the foot on last 2 aligns with left edge of denticle 16. Only found with flat base reverse lettering and London obverse. Scarcer as found, accounting for approx. 1.15% of total 1922 Penny mintage.

A lead trial strike exists showing both obverse and reverse. An official presentation of a bronze medallion was made to the Postal Department.
