It's a classic design and there's no shame in finding it attractive. But if it was me I'd be looking for my coats of arms on something with a bit more history:

Very nice.
And I think sold for about the same as it's going to cost to get one of those proof 5 pounders here in Australia.

GB 2014 £5 Prince George 1st Birthday Silver Proof
"Should I feel shame finding it attractive?"
I think it is terrible that another collector has to even pose that question
if you like the coin & can afford it then go for gold
as I have said before, I find the term granny bait derogatory and insulting to grannies (being one myself!! ha ha) and to the collectors who enjoy collecting the modern silver coins

Thanks for that robbiegal. I am not really that ashamed of my fondness for the shiny new silver designs. The only reason why I am a bit wary is the drop in value later. I could potentially have gotten cheaper if I wait. I got to be careful though. If I buy everything that I like I would be bankrupt very soon.
May be "kitsch" is better word. Kitsch or no kitsch - I like designs with coat of arms on them.
I rather like how they have done the date on the design
Today I bought some Granny Bait.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 1,914 of The ANZAC Spirit 100th Anniversary Coin Series – First Convoy 2014 1/2oz Silver Proof Coin. I will be selling it I think.

I'm not much on silver proofs, but do pick up the odd one or two that I think has an important relevance to our history. I reckon this one celebrates one of those events. At a mintage of 1914 it may be harder to get though.
